Information on starting a sporting ociation in Australia?

Hi I know companies are different from ociations but vI saw a show on TV the other night about some guy who started up a company that organises out door racing competitions (rafting triatlons etc.). It was on the Aussie Reality T.V. channel, maybe if you contacted him by getting his info from this channel he could help. Or jsut contact some ocitaion from the yellow pages and they could give you some info.
